On Dec 15th, Dr. Yenbo Wu, Associate Vice President for International Education and Senior International Officer of San Francisco State University (SF State), visited the Faculty of Education (FOE) and engaged in discussions concerning bilateral collaborations.

Professor Zhu Xudong, Dean of FOE, received Dr. Wu at Yingdong Building. Among the other attendees of the discussions were Xiao Kai, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, BNU, and Prof. Feng Liping, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at SF State and Professor of the College of Chinese Language and Culture at BNU. Liu Li, Director of FOE’s Office of Teaching Affairs, and relevant staff from FOE’s Office of International Exchange and Cooperation also attended the meeting.

The two sides conducted in-depth and practical discussions regarding collaborations in the future. As FOE and SF State have an excellent cooperative relationship, Prof. Zhu Xudong and Dr. Yenbo Wu aimed to extend the current range of cooperation by promoting new programs and creating opportunities for exchange.

It was agreed that the two sides would gear up the promotion of the BNU-SF State 3+1+G Program. This Program will enable FOE’s undergraduates to study for one year at SF State. After they receive their undergraduate degrees issued by BNU, they will have the opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree at SF State. BNU is preparing for the relevant procedures now, and the two universities will work actively for the finalization of the Program.

SF State welcomes BNU students to participate in exchange programs lasting for over three months. The two universities could start negotiations concerning tuition fees and the mutual recognition of credits.

The faculty members of the two universities have already been engaged in joint research projects in Special Education. BNU and SF State reiterated their support for this collaboration.
