    Bio Brief:

    Dr. Hongjian Cao obtained his PhD (2017) from the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, USA. He also holds a master degree of developmental psychology (2013) from the Institute of Developmental Psychology, School of Psychology at Beijing Normal University, China and a bachelor degree of special education (2010) from the Department of Special Education, School of Education at Beijing Normal University, China.

    Broadly, his primary research interest centers on: Family processes and child/adolescent development; Maternal well-being during the transition to parenthood; early childhood (emotional/psychological) maltreatment and subsequent adjustment; couple relationship well-being and its key predictors; parent-child and couple relationships within families headed by LGBT* parents; and technology (e.g., Internet gaming and cellphone use addiction) and human development.


    His publications have appeared in a number of prestigious peer-reviewed journals in the areas of family studies, social work, developmental psychology, and developmental psychopathology, including Journal of Marriage and Family, Journal of Family Psychology, Journal of Family Theory & Review, Family Process, Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Developmental Psychology, Journal of Research on Adolescence, Journal of Counseling Psychology, Journal of Personality, Journal of Sex Research, Computers in Human Behavior, Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking, Psychology of Addictive Behaviors, Trauma, Violence, & Abuse, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, et al

    He is currently serving as the Associate Editor for Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Editorial Board Member for Journal of Family Theory & Review, and Ad-Hoc Reviewer for a number of prestigious journals, including Family Process, Journal of Family Psychology, Journal of Family Theory & Review, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, Children and Youth Services Review, et al. He is also serving as the Vice Chair and Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Institute of Early Childhood Education, Faculty of Education, Beijing Normal University, China.
