    ZHU Xiaoman Professor
    Institute of Teacher Education
    Professor Zhu Xiaoman, born in December 1947. She is a Doctor of Education and Mater of Philosophy, she was a visiting scholar to Ethics Section at Philosophy Department of Moscow University(1992-1993). She is currently a professor at Education Faculty, Beijing Normal University. She is also a doctoral supervisor.

    Professor Zhu Xiaoman was the former Vice President of Nanjing Normal University (1996-2002), Director and Secretary of The Party Committee of Central National Institute of Education Science (2002-2007), and Director of UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (2007-2010).

    Professor Zhu Xiaoman was the former Vice Chairman of Chinese Education Society (2005-2012), Vice Chairman of Chinese Education Strategy Society (2006-2012), President of China Educational History Study Society (2004-2012), and National Educational Inspector (2005-2012).

    Currently, Professor Zhu Xiaoman is President of Chinese Institute for Tao Xingzhi Study (2005- ), Foreign Member of Russian Institute of Educational Science (2004- ), Member of Leading Group of National Educational Planning, Chief of National Moral Education Division, Chief of Moral Education Division of National Curricular Innovation Committee on Elementary Education, Member of the Expert Advisory Committee on Teacher Education, Ministry of Education, and Deputy Director of Teaching Steering Committee for Primary Education. She is also part-time Professor of Peking University, Zhejiang University, Sun Yat-Sen University and South-East University, etc.

    Professor Zhu Xiaoman’s teaching and research areas include educational principle, moral education philosophy, teacher education, affective education and rural education, etc. Since 1995 she has been doctoral supervisor, up to now, under her supervision, there are 18 doctoral graduates and 2 post-doctoral graduates from Nanjing Normal University; 7 doctoral candidates (4 out of them has got doctoral degree) and 4 post-doctoral at Beijing Normal University, at National Institute of Education Science, she had 9 post-doctorate students. She has also been supervisor for 3 visiting scholars at Nanjing Normal University and 10 visiting scholars at National Institute of Educational Science.

    Her monographs Affective Education, dialogism monograph Challenges facing Education – Idealistic Response, and Comparative Study on Educational Reformation in China and Russia in 20-21 Century, a collaborative work of Chinese and Russian scholars, are respectively rewarded as the second prize of Excellent Achievement of Philosophic and Social Science by Jiangsu Province, Humanities and Social Science by Ministry of Education, and National Educational Science. She has written more than 200 papers in the past, in 2012, her work Spiritual Development – reflection on Moral and Affection Education was published as a part of series Chinese Compulsory Educational Experts Library by Beijing Normal University

    Since last 90s, Professor Zhu Xiaoman has lead tens of national and provincial research projects, and many China –Japan and China- Russia collaborative projects. Among those on-going projects she is presently taking in charge there are Research and Solutions on National Youth Moral Status, a key research project of National Educational Science “Tenth Five” Plan in 2007, Education for Rural Development, a key project sponsored by National Social Science Foundation in 2008, Theory and Practice on Primary Teachers’ Professional Development, sponsored by Humanities and Social Science Focal Point Study Base, Ministry of Education in 2011, and Comparative Study on Vocational Education in China, Russia and Kazakhstan, sponsored by UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education.

    Since 1992, Professor Zhu has been invited to participate and deliver academic reports in Russia, Ukraine, US, UK, Brazil, Sweden, Bulgaria, Japan, South Korean, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
