National Research Center for Sign Language and Braille (NRCSLB)


The National Research Center of Sign Language and Braille, founded on July 16, 2010, is administered by the Beijing Normal University and jointly led by the China Disabled Persons’ Federation, the Ministry of Education and the State Language Affairs Commission. It strives to become a think-tank for policy-making, a hub for research, a cradle to foster high-level talents, a center for promoting sign language and braille research, and a platform for academic exchange in sign language and braille in China.

Relying on research edge of the Beijing Normal University in linguistics, education, psychology and sociology, especially on the academic resources and personnel of BNU in special education, sign language and Braille, it has built a team of expertise and made great contribution to the development of sign language and Braille.
