Dr. Kinshuk is NSERC/iCORE/Xerox/Markin Industrial Research Chair for Adaptivity and Personalization in Informatics, Associate Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology, and Full Professor at the School of Computing and Information Systems at Athabasca University, Canada. His work has been dedicated to advancing research on the innovative paradigms, architectures and implementations of online and distance learning systems for individualized and adaptive learning in increasingly global environments. Areas of his research interests include learning technologies, mobile, ubiquitous and location aware learning systems, cognitive profiling and interactive technologies.
Dr. Susan Neuman
Susan Neuman specializes in early literacy development. She served as the U.S. Assistant Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education from 2001-2003. Previously, she directed the Center for the Improvement of Early Reading Achievement (CIERA). Her research and teaching interests include early childhood policy, curriculum, and early reading instruction, prek-grade 3. In her role as assistant secretary, she established the Reading First program, the Early Reading First program, and was responsible for all activities in Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Act. Her newest books include Preparing Teachers for the Early Childhood Classroom (2010) and the Handbook of Early Literacy Research Volume 3 (2011). Recently, she has been named co-editor of Reading Research Quarterly, the journal published by the International Reading Association, the most prestigious journal in the field of reading.
Prof. Carmel Diezmann
Prof. Carmel Diezmann, Assistant Dean Research, Faculty of Education at Queensland University of Technology. She is responsible for the leadership and management of the Centre for Learning Innovation. Prof. Diezmann is particularly interested in the cognition and creativity of individuals and groups in a broad range of educational contexts. Her research includes the learning and achievement of academics, teachers, and higher degree students; the role of information graphics in mathematics instruction, investigations and assessment; curriculum innovation and assessment in mathematics and science education; and the education of gifted individuals. Professor Diezmann has received numerous educational awards including two QUT Awards for Outstanding Academic Contribution (1999, Professional Leadership; 2003, Research and Scholarship).
Professor Vinayagum Chinapah
Professor VinayagumChinapah (Sweden and Mauritius), Chair Holder and Head of the Institute of International Education (IIE), Department of Education, Stockholm University, Sweden since 2009. He joined IIE in 1976 and served in different professional and research capacities from a lecturer up to the present position as Professor and Director. He worked as initiator and coordinator of the 1st International Master’s Degree Program in International and Comparative Education at Stockholm University in 1984, which was a unique one in Scandinavia at that time and later got introduced in other countries. He had his Master Degree in Pedagogy with Honors at Charles University, Prague (1977) and a PhD in International and Comparative Education at Stockholm University (1983). He served as Deputy-Director (vice prefekt) of IIE for the period 1983-1992.
In 1992, Professor Chinapah took leave from IIE to be at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris as Director of the Joint UNESCO-UNICEF International Program on Monitoring the Quality of Education and Learning Achievement which covered some 80 countries world-wide during the period (1992-2006). He also served for one year as UNESCO Regional Educational Adviser for the Arab States, UNESCO Regional Office, Beirut, Lebanon (2007-2008) before returning back to lead IIE in January 2009.
Dr. Allan Luke
Allan Luke previously was Dean of Education at the University of Queensland, Deputy Director, General of Queensland schools and Ministerial advisor, and taught in the Aboriginal and Islander Teacher Education program. He was well-known for his research on “Four Resources Model” and his expertise are sociology of education, literacy and language education, curriculum studies, discourse analysis, school reform and evaluation. Since 1999 Allan Luke was Editor or Senior-Editor of several noted academic journals such as “The Handbook of Curriculum (Sage)”, “Review of Research in Education (American Educational Research Association)”, “Asia Pacific Journal of Education (Routledge)”. He has published 13 books and his work has appeared in Harvard Educational Review, Educational Theory, Reading Research Quarterly, Social Epistemology, Culture and Politics, Journal of Pragmatics, Annual Review of Applied Linguistics, Teachers College Record, and other journals. He has received the: Gold Medal of the Australian College of Education (2004), Educational Press Association of America Excellence Award (1989), American Educational Studies Book Award (2005).

Dr. Xiangyun Du
Dr. Xiangyun Du, Assistant Professor at Department of Development and Planning, Aalborg University, Denmark. Since 2009, she has served as the director of Confucius Institute for Innovation and Learning at Aalborg University, advisor for Ph. D. candidates. Her research interests included gender studies, identity development and management, meaningful learning, intercultural communication in teaching and learning and problem based Learning. She became Vice-Chair of UNESCO CHAIR in PBL.
