FOE Delegation Visits Canada Published:2016-07-08 10:54:22  Views:10

June 16 to 21, 2016, Vice Dean Dr. MAO Yaqing, Deputy Dean of National Training Centre for Primary Principals CHEN Suoming, and Director of the International Exchange Office WU Haitao visited Coquitlam School District 43 and International School Leadership in Canada, for the needs of promoting the internationalization of National Training Centre for Primary Principals, Faculty of Education. The delegation had meetings with the two institutions to strengthen and broaden cooperation and signed two memorandums of understanding.

On June 17 and 18, the delegation visited Coquitlam School District 43. Marketing Manager Robert Lajoie gave the delegation a tour of Pinetree Secondary School and Walton Elementary School. Both schools are publicly funded and they have Chinese language classes as well as Confucius classrooms. Robert Lajoie also made a brief introduction about the public education system of Canada.

Chair of Coquitlam School District 43 Judy Shirra and Superintendent of Schools Patricia Gartland met with the delegation. Robert Lajoie and Susan Wang were also in attendance. Both sides had a productive meeting and reached agreements on developing future collaboration.

At the end of the meeting, Vice Dean MAO Yaqing and Superintendent Patricia Gartland signed the program delivery agreement to invite experts of Coquitlam School District 43 to give presentations for program participants of National Training Centre for Primary Principals during this summer.

Vice Dean MAO Yaqing and Superintendent Patricia Gartland Signed the MOU

 

On June 20, the delegation paid a visit to International School Leadership (ISL), a subsidiary of the Ontario Principals’ Council, which provides exemplary professional development for teachers, principals, schools heads and system leaders around the world. At the meeting, both sides briefed each other on their institutions, missions, international exchange, etc, and agreed on exploring future collaborations on various areas. Towards the end of the meeting, Vice Dean MAO Yaqing and Chief Executive Officer of ISL Dr. Joanne Robinson signed a program delivery agreement to invite experts of ISL to give lectures to program participants of National Training Centre for Primary Principals during this summer.
