FOE Delegation Participates in 6th Sino-Japan Teacher Education Conference Published:2015-11-17 16:40:31  Views:10

 

The 6th Sino-Japan Teacher Education Conference took place at Naruto University of Education in Japan from November 5 to 9, 2015. The theme of this year was Ensuring the Quality of Teacher Education. The conference attracted 101 university teachers and students from Beijing Normal University, Naruto University of Education, Joetsu University of Education, Aichi Shukutoku University and Ikuei Junior College, etc. The FOE delegation was led by Dean SHI Zhongying, consisting of 20 faculty members and students.

During the opening ceremony on November 7, President of Naruto University of Education Professor TANAKA Yuzo and Dean SHI Zhongying, etc. gave opening remarks. They reviewed the history of Sino-Japan Teacher Education Conference and spoke highly of its contributions to the promotion of teacher education and academic exchange between China and Japan. Professor NISHIZONO Yoshinobu from Naruto University of Education and Professor LI Qiong from FOE gave keynote speeches on education reform and its challenges for China and Japan.

On November 8, all FOE delegates and some conference participants from other Japanese universities were put into groups based on the sub-themes of the conference and gave presentations. After that, they had a profound discussion and exchanged thoughts.

During the conference, Dean SHI and President TANAKA exchanged views on the next Sino-Japan Teacher Education Conference. Preliminary consensus was reached. The conference came to a successful close on the afternoon of November 8.

During their stay in Japan, the delegation also visited the kindergarten, primary school and special education school affiliated to Naruto University of Education. Through interactions with the school principles and participation of class observation, etc., the delegation got closer to understand the philosophy of Japanese schools, their curriculum and teacher’s professional development.

The profound discussions spurred during the conference widened and deepened the participants’ understanding on the theme of teacher education, which would help to elevate the quality and practice of teacher education in China and Japan and pave the way for further cooperation and communication between Beijing Normal University and Naruto University of Education.
