FOE Delegation Visits Three Universities in Australia Published:2015-09-10 10:25:51  Views:10

 

From July 14 to 18, a delegation from Faculty of Education (FOE) visited Faculty of Education and Social Work at the University of Sydney, School of Education at the University of New South Wales, and Faculty of Education at Queensland University of Technology. The delegation was led by Dean SHI Zhongying and consisted of Vice Dean YU Shengquan, Associate Professor MA Liwen, Associate Professor PEI Miao and Academic Affairs Director LIU Yang.

 

 While visiting the University of Sydney, the delegation was recepted by Diane Mayer, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Social Work, some officials of the faculty, some teacher representatives and some officials of the International Services. The two parties had a profound discussion about the progress of international cooperation projects, the achieved results and future cooperation between FOE and the Faculty of Education and Social Work since the year of 2013.

 

 

In order to promote the cooperation, communication and joint publication between the two faculties, FOE proposed to set up an International cooperative research center. The proposal was positively responded by the faculty of Education and Social Work and the officials from the International Services of the University of Sydney. Dean Mayer accepted FOE’s invitation to visit FOE this November.

 

 

 

The delegation also visited the School of Education at the University of New South Wales. They were warmly welcomed by Dean Chris Davision and their teacher representatives. Both parties introduced their research interests respectively, discussed and exchanged their views on educational technology, value education, teacher education, drama in education, educational evaluation, language education, etc. At the end of the meeting, the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding, aiming to broaden cooperation in multiple fields, such as research and teaching, etc.

 

 

 

On July 16, the delegation paid a visit to the Faculty of Education at Queensland University of Technology (FOEQUT). Present at the meeting were Professor Ann Farrel, the executive dean of FOEQUT and some officials of International Services. The two parties selected the proposal for the Doctoral Workshop to be held at Beijing Normal University at the end of 2015, discussed the theme of the 2016 STEM conference at Beijing Normal University, introduced their own research fields and projects, and investigated a model of scientific cooperation for the next step.

 

 

  

During the visit, the delegation also met 5 FOE alumni at the University of Queensland and the Queensland University of Technology, listened to their life and learning experience and their reflection of studying at home and abroad, and encouraged them to study hard and return to China when their study was completed. The doctoral alumni showed great confidence in the future development of FOE.

 

 

This visit took place against the background of leadership change at the faculty of education at the University of Sydney and that of the Queensland University of Technology. It advanced the intercollegiate communication and cooperation and laid a solid foundation for the future cooperation between the three schools of education in Australia and FOE. This is a most rewarding visit.
